Colin Scott FCA

Colin Scott is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Faculty of Information Technology of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Before forming his own firm, in March 1999, Colin had over 17 years experience with a leading national firm of Chartered Accountants.

In the mid eighties he recognised how important computer systems were becoming and decided to develop his interest in computing by specialising in helping businesses benefit from Information Technology. He now has over twenty years experience in this field having worked with businesses across a broad range of industries, including distribution, manufacturing, construction, food processing, insurance, publishing, freight forwarding and professional services.

During this time he has developed an extensive knowledge of the main business software packages and related computer technology and he continues to invest time in keeping up to date with current developments.

Colin's experience includes selection and implementation of systems, improving management information, reviewing internal controls, developing computer management procedures, data transfer/manipulation and due diligence investigations. During the first half of the nineties he was responsible for the management of computer facilities in two locations with about 70 users and managed the recovery from a fire disaster.

Colin is an experienced speaker and trainer on the effective management and use of Information Technology in business. He regularly lectures to business managers, accountants and other audiences on Electronic Commerce, accounting software package developments, effective use of office software and other IT related subjects. He has lectured at conferences and training seminars in the United Kingdom and abroad, for organisations including the IT Faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean and The National Housing Federation.

Colin Scott has been editor of Gee Publishing's Electronic Commerce Handbook. He is also a Past President of the East Anglian Society of Chartered Accountants.
